Throughout this course we created LEPs for our content area that were literacy infused. There were four literacy strategies we learned about and created an LEP using them to help the students learn the content and help with literacy standards.
I created an LEP that used the literacy strategy similarities and differences. This lesson was for 6th grade math and would be done during a statistics unit while learning about box plots. In this lesson the students learn how to read information from box blots and how to compare them by looking at their similarities and differences they have with one another. You can download this LEP here.

In another LEP I created used the literacy strategy summarizing. This lesson was for a 7th grade math class and had to do with word problems involving volume. In this lesson, the students solve word problems while using a graphic organizer that helps them organize the information and summarize what they did after getting an answer. This graphic organizer can be used to help students solve any word problem and can make it easier for a lot of students. It also helps students learn how to explain how they solved a problem by summarizing their work. You can download this LEP here.

In this LEP I created, I used the literacy strategy question and ques. This lesson was also created for 7th graders and would be done while doing word problems. I created a cue which was CUB-DEAR. Each letter reminds students of a step they should be taking while solving word problems. This can be used for any word problem and will help students understand the question by collecting the information they need and get an answer for the problem. You can download that LEP here.

In this LEP that I created, I used the literacy strategy non-linguistics. This lesson was created for a 7th grade math class while learnign about triangles. This lesson has students create models of scalene, isosceles, equilateral, and right triangles. They use a protractor and ruler to measure the triangles and create a model of them with their characteristics on them which can be used as a guide. By creating the model they are understanding exactly what the characteristics are and will also help them remember them. You can see this LEP here.
